Former Columbus North High School student killed in Bartholomew Co. crash

BARTHOLOMEW COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) – A teenager was killed Sunday afternoon in a two vehicle accident in Bartholomew County.

According to our partners at the Columbus Republic, 17-year-old Allyssia Christman was a former Columbus North High student.

The fatal accident happened just before 1 p.m. Sunday, October 16 at the intersection of County Road 900 North and County Road 350 East.

Indiana State Police said a 1995 Honda Accord, driven by 19-year-old Austin Wade, was traveling westbound on County Road 900 North.  As Wade’s vehicle was approaching the intersection of County Road 900 North, it, for unknown reasons, pulled into the path of a truck.

The truck, driven by 36-year-old Eric Harper, slammed into the passenger side of the Accord.  The collision sent both vehicles off of the roadway.

Christman, a passenger in the Accord, was transported to IU Health Methodist Hospital by helicopter where she was later pronounced dead.

Wade, the driver of the Accord, was taken to the Columbus Regional for his injuries.  He was treated for minor injuries and later released. Harper and two juvenile passengers in the truck were unharmed, according to police.
