Police investigating extreme animal hoarding case in Vermillion Co.

VERMILLION COUNTY, Ind. (WTHI) – Calls from Vermillion County pet owners led police to what they are calling an extreme hoarding situation.

On Monday, 24-Hour News 8’s sister station, WTHI, said that the Parke-Vermillion Humane Society took on a large number of animals.

Now they know where the animals came from

Police responded to Troll Keep Kitty Haven in Dana, Indiana.

While trying to make contact with the property owners, the deputy noticed several animals running loose around two modular homes.

The owners of the property were identified as 62-year-old Bonnie Hanning, 28-year-old Shannon Childress, and 23-year-old Lorene Childress.

No arrests have been made at this time.

In total, the Parke-Vermillion Humane Society took in a total of 56 cats, 10 dogs, and 26 birds.
