2 of 5 reported West Lafayette sexual assault cases dropped

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – Two out of the five recent sexual assault cases in West Lafayette will be closed on Tuesday and another heads to the Tippecanoe County Prosecutor’s Office, according to the West Lafayette police.

Two of the victims have requested to West Lafayette investigators that they would like the cases to be dropped, according Capt. David VanVactor.

No arrests have been made in any of the five cases.

West Lafayette police are adamant there’s no threat to the public.

“All these cases, or most of these cases – all of the individuals involved know each other,” said VanVactor. “They’re at least acquaintances.”

Although he cannot reveal much due to pending investigations, VanVactor told 24-Hour News 8’s sister station, WLFI, one victim was a Purdue student.
