Fishers PD officer formally charged with battery

JOHNSON COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) – A Fishers police officer was formally charged with battery in Johnson County Wednesday.

Officer Charles Kingery was arrested in Greenwood on Saturday evening following an altercation.

According to court documents, police initially responded to The Columns, located in the 200 block of West Main Street, for a call of a fight.

After arriving on scene, police talked with both Kingery and his wife.  Documents state that both had been drinking and began arguing over an affair.  At that time another man intervened and Kingery than became aggressive towards the man. Kingery then punched the man in the face.

Kingery told police that he acted in self defense. He was then taken into custody and transported o the Johnson County Jail.

Kingery is currently suspended from the Fishers Police Department.  He has been with the department since March 2014.
