Local bakery and community shop to celebrate grand opening in Plainfield

HENDRICKS COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) — The Plainfield community will celebrate the grand opening of a new local business Thursday.

Grandma’s Oven recently opened up shop in the former home of Panera Bread in The Shops at Perry Crossing. Panera now has its own stand-alone building.

24-Hour News 8 introduced you to Grandma’s Oven owner Robin Teasley here on Daybreak in May. At that time she was operating out of Westside Commercial Kitchen Co-op in Clayton, with hopes of opening a store front within a year.

Teasley has reached that goal and after spending 8 years as a farmers market vendor throughout Hendricks County, she wanted to make sure her bakery teamed up with other local small businesses.

“I just brought the community with me. Everyone that I made friends with and loved the products and used,” Teasley said, “There’s wonderful, wonderful artists in the community, whether you do food, headbands, rugs, jewelry, and I wanted to give them a place to show off their talents and to be a part of this as well.”

Grandma’s Oven features recipes passed down through the generations of her family including sweet sourdough bread, buckeye brownies, and seasonal cupcakes. There is also a full lunch menu.

You can visit the bakery and community shop during mall hours. Hours will be expanded to 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday for the grand opening.
