Man reports theft of marijuana stash from Indiana hotel room

LAGRANGE COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) — A Michigan man called police in LaGrange County Tuesday night to report a stash of marijuana had been stolen from his hotel room.

Police were called around 9:15 p.m. Tuesday to a Howe hotel after a guest reported a theft there. According to a news release, J. Johnson of Michigan told police that some 3.5 grams of marijuana had been stolen from his room while he was out.

Johnson valued the reserve at $30.

Johnson asked police to investigate the theft. The release said officers searched the “immediate area” but were not able to find the drugs. No arrests were made.

Medical marijuana is legal in Michigan. The sheriff’s department did not indicate whether Johnson’s supply was medicinal, but the release referred to it as an “illegal substance.”
