IMPD event gives parents free fingerprint IDs for kids

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A Halloween event allowed families to keep their children safe Friday night.

Hubler Chevrolet and the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department held a child safety and pumpkin event.

Officers took high quality digital pictures of children and their fingerprints.

Police say time is often wasted when looking for missing children due to gathering photos and fingerprints.

The pictures taken Friday were printed on a record that parents take home. If their child ever goes missing, parents can use the ID card to help police.

If you’re interested in getting an ID card for your child, the event is happening again Saturday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. at Hubler Chevrolet on US 31.
