Muncie traffic stop leads to drug arrests

MUNCIE,Ind. (WISH) – Two people were arrested early Friday morning after a traffic stop.

According to Indiana State Police, a trooper was patrolling an area in Muncie when he noticed a gold-colored Chevy Malibu traveling at nearly 30 miles per hour over the posted speed limit.

It was at that time that the trooper stopped the car, after first catching up to the speeding vehicle .  During his initial investigation, and while speaking to the driver, 18-year-old Levi Waldrath of Muncie, that the officer noticed the smell of marijuana coming from the vehicle.

Police said that Waldrath also exhibited blood shot and watery eyes.  Another trooper, who was nearby, stopped to assist on the scene.  Officers then began talking with passenger, 18-year-old Alonna Brown also of Muncie.

Soon thereafter, police arrested both Waldrath and Brown.

Waldrath faces preliminary charges of operating while intoxicated with a controlled substance and possession of marijuana.

The passenger in the vehicle, Brown, faces preliminary charges of possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana and paraphernalia.

Both were transported to the Delaware County Jail.
