19-year-old found passed out with gun on lap arrested

COLUMBUS, Ind. (WISH) – A 19-year-old Columbus teen was arrested on multiple charges after he was found passed out in a vehicle with a handgun on his lap Friday.

According to police, officers were sent to a parking lot in the 2000 block of Merchants Mile after reports of two suspicious men in a vehicle.

When officers arrived, police said they found Skye Bailey inside the vehicle. They removed the handgun and took Bailey into custody after waking him up.

Police said a second person was also in the vehicle. He was taken into custody but later released.

Officers said they found a small amount of methamphetamine and Xanax in the vehicle.

Bailey was transported to the Bartholomew County Jail for the following preliminary charges:

  • Carrying a handgun without a permit
  • Possession of a controlled substance
  • Possession of methamphetamine
