Every Hancock County police vehicle to get trauma kit
HANCOCK COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) — The Fraternal Order of Police in Hancock County says every squad car will soon have a trauma kit.
According to a release, officials say they plan to hand out more than 100 kits to local law enforcement, allowing officers to administer first aid before medics arrive to a scene.
Police officials say every officer will go through training to learn how to stabilize an injured person, especially a fellow officer suffering a gunshot wound.
Experts say a person with a severe injury can die from blood loss within five minutes.
FOP fundraising and $15,000 in donations from NineStar Connect and Indiana University Health Methodist Hospital allowed the trauma kits to be purchased.
