Vigil honors life of slain Lafayette teacher

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – The life of a slain Lafayette school teacher was honored during a vigil at Edgelea Elementary Sunday night.

Kristi Redmon, 52, was found dead from gunshot wounds outside of her home Oct. 12.

She was an art teacher in the Lafayette School Corporation and taught primarily at Edgelea.

Organizers of Sunday’s vigil remember Redmon as a wonderful person who lived her life to the fullest.

They said it was a night to remember the good she brought to school every day.

“My daughter and [her friends] had her as a teacher for five years,” said vigil organizer Annie Jarrard. “She meant a lot to the girls. They love art. They loved her class. Art class was just one of those classes that you would hear about every day when you would ask them what they would do at school.”

Due to the windy weather, lanterns could not be released in honor of Redmon Sunday.

However, they were handed out to people to send off at a later date.
