Charitable ‘homeless hippie’ ticketed for littering during stop

WARREN COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) – A man trying to bring awareness to homelessness in Indiana is running into some trouble with law enforcement in Warren County.

As News 18 previously reported, Timothy Watt, also known as Harry the Homeless Hippie, is traveling the state living on donations and giving the rest to charity.

During his stay in Williamsport last week, some people gave him a mattress and other goods he had to leave behind. Now, Williamsport authorities have ticketed him for littering.

A public Facebook post from Deputy Town Marshal Shawn Briles shows he cussed at Watt – calling him worthless and telling him to get a job.

Town Marshal Ted Latoz said he disagreed with Briles’ post and addressed the issue with him. However, he said he stands by the ticket.

Watt said several locals offered to remove the items once he left, but since then have been unable to do so. He doesn’t agree with the ticket and said paying it would be taking money from local charities.

Watt is not the only one angry about the incident.
