(MEDIA GENERAL) — Donald Trump has kept a high profile for years before throwing his hat into the 2016 presidential race but there are things you might not know about the billionaire businessman turned GOP presidential nominee. Below are 10 interesting facts about Trump.

1. Trump attended military school

Citing “behavior problems,” Trump’s parents sent him away to the New York Military Academy at the age of 13. He graduated from the military academy in 1964 before continuing his education at Fordham University and, eventually, the University of Pennsylvania where he graduated with a degree in Economics. 2. Trump owned a pro football team

In 1983, Trump, who played varsity football in high school, purchased the New Jersey Generals of the United States Football League. He tried to merge the league with the National Football League but was unsuccessful and the league eventually folded. (Source: The Fiscal Times)

3. Trump is a germaphobe who hates handshakes

Trump is a self-professed germaphobe and dislikes shaking hands or fear of being exposed to germs. He has even referred to hand-shaking as “one of the curses of American society,” according to The Washington Post.

4. Trump won an award for acting

7. Trump almost had to shave his head
