Broad Ripple adult daycare robbed of furniture

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – An adult day care center is asking for your help in finding who may have stolen their porch furniture over the weekend.

It happened Sunday morning outside of Joy’s House in Broad Ripple.

The entire theft was caught on video.

“I think like anybody else, when somebody takes something that is yours and not theirs you feel violated, you feel angry,” said Tina McIntosh, the president and CEO of Joy’s House.

The property on Broad Ripple Avenue is secured by three cameras.

In the video you see a man pull up in a U-Haul Truck. He walks to the porch, when he gets there a motion-activated camera is tripped.

He’s seen walking away with two chairs, and then he comes back and steals the mums.

“It’s not this gentleman’s to take and quite honestly I feel sorry for him, it makes me wonder what’s going on in his life,” said McIntosh.

Joy’s House has been in the community for 17 years. They cater to people living with Alzheimer’s, dementia, M-S, Parkinson’s and Huntington’s disease.

“We’ve experienced a little bit over time, but we’ve been pretty protected. I think because we have served this community for so long and I think people take pretty good care of us because of what we do in the neighborhood,” said McIntosh.

Their protection though is now in question

“It just hurts our hearts a little bit,” said McIntosh.

McIntosh says they aren’t looking for donations, they simply want you to be aware that this happening and to secure your own furniture.

She also wants this person caught. If you know anything about this crime you’re asked to call Crime Stoppers at 317-262-TIPS.
