Security camera catches glimpse of burglary suspect in Fishers

FISHERS, Ind. (WISH) – Police in Fishers Indiana are looking for whoever broke into two home on Saturday.

Police say it happened in the 12000 block of Bridgewater Road sometime on Saturday.

One of the home’s surveillance cameras was able to capture an image of the suspect. It’s believed that the suspect is a black male in his 20s or 30s.

Fishers police are looking for the person, who was caught on camera breaking into homes in a subdivision.

The two burglaries happened in the 12000 block of Bridgewater Road over the weekend.

One of the victims told 24-Hour News 8 she returned home from vacation to find her back door smashed open. She said the burglars got away with so much more than just personal stuff. They also took her sense of security.

The victim did not want to share her name or show her face on camera. But she wanted to warn other neighbors about the crime.

“It’s an awful feeling when you walk into your house and it’s open your glass is broken and everything is everywhere,” she said.

She said she got home from vacation with her husband last Saturday night to find a mess.

“I walked back to the bedroom and it looked like a bomb had exploded because of all the clothes and the drawers that were out,” she said.

She said the burglar used a rock to smash through the glass door in the back and got away with jewelry and handbags.

“Your privacy was invaded and it’s not about the personal items that were taken it was like oh my word some of the things I can’t replace like my grandmother’s ring, my mother’s bracelet,” she said.

And her neighbor just two doors down also had their home broken into on the same night.

“When it was just us it was bad enough but to go around the neighborhood that’s just sad because we live in a safe community,” she said.

The homeowner in the second burglary did not want to go on camera. He said his family was on fall break when it happened.

Police said home surveillance cameras took a picture of the suspect. Police only have a vague description, describing him as a man believed to be in his 20s or 30s.

“I have found myself everyday this sounds terrible but praying for the person that did it that he turns himself in and turns his life around,” she said.

Police said the burglar got away with mostly jewelry. Police believe the break-ins happened between 8 p.m. to 11 p.m.

“I would like to say be really diligent watch over help your neighbors if they work every day or if you know they’re going to be on vacation to pay attention to strange individuals that come into your addition,” she said. “You know and i hate to say that because most people are so nice like I said we live in a safe community but we have to be aware.”

If you see anything suspicious in your neighborhood or recognize the man in the picture you’re asked to call police.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Detective C. Rodriguez at 317-595-3346 or call Crime Stoppers 317-262- TIPS (8477).

Police say homeowners should remember to check doors and windows to make sure they are locked. They also suggest installing motion detector lights.
