Drunk driver crashes into police cruiser in Michigan

WYOMING, Mich. (WOOD) – Wyoming, Michigan police said an officer suffered minor injuries after a drunk driver crashed into his cruiser.

It happened at 12:50 a.m. Sunday at the intersection of 28th Street and Buchanan Avenue SW.

Wyoming police say a vehicle traveling northbound on Buchanan did not yield the right of way when turning onto 28th Street and crashed into the cruiser. The officer was driving eastbound on 28th Street and had a flashing yellow light.

The 29-year-old officer was taken treated for minor injuries at the hospital and has since been released.

The driver of the vehicle that crashed into the cruiser, a 27-year-old man from Comstock Park, was arrested for Operating While Intoxicated. He was lodged at the Kent County Correctional Facility.

Police are investigating the crash.
