Unresponsive man found in ditch in Putnam County

PUTNAM COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) – An unresponsive man was located by an off-duty Indiana State Police trooper in Putnam County Monday evening.

According to the Indiana State Police, the trooper discovered the 21-year-old Indianapolis man on his back in a ditch while traveling west on U.S. 40 near U.S. 231 around 6 p.m.

The trooper and responding EMS personnel were able to bring the man to a semi-conscious state.

The man was transported to Terre Haute Regional Hospital. At the hospital medical staff discovered the man was under the influence of hydrocodone and xanax and was experiencing mental health issues.
