First Lady of Indy, officials from Eskenazi Health announce new program

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – In honor of National Family Literacy Month, First Lady of Indianapolis, Steph Hogsett, and officials from Eskenazi Health announced a new program that encourages parents to read to their newborns and children. It’s called Creating Curious Minds.

New moms will be getting a packet with three books, in hopes they will read to their children.

“We need to engage our children. Children are born with a natural curiosity and we need to nurture that. Not just moms and dads, grandmas and grandpas and aunts and uncles and brothers and sisters, we need to encourage it in all of our children,” Steph Hogsett said.

The packets also contain other information, including how to get a library card for parents and children.
