SPEEDWAY, Ind. (WISH) – There was an unlikely match-up at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway between IndyCar drivers and Indy Eleven players on Tuesday. It was called the “Battle on the Bricks.”

Players and drivers teamed up with Indianapolis Public School students to play soccer at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Yard of Bricks.

“I’ve never been here,” said Indy Eleven defender Neil Shaffer. “I’ve never been to a racetrack of any sort, so I mean it was awesome and to see the guys, other IndyCar drivers, supporting our team it’s fantastic.”

IMS hosted the game to spread the word about the Indy Eleven’s postseason run.

The IndyCar Series trophy and the Soccer Bowl Trophy for the NASL were both on display.

The event was a way to welcome the North American Soccer League’s postseason tournament to Indianapolis for the first time. The Eleven host a championship semi-final Saturday at Carroll Stadium.
