Muncie police chief resigns, effective immediately

MUNCIE, Ind. (WISH) – The Muncie Police Chief, Steve Stewart has resigned, effective immediately.

According to Mayor Dennis Tyler, he resigned Monday.

His replacement has not been selected.

Below is the Mayor’s full statement:

Chief Stewart chose to resign effective immediately as Chief of Police Monday, October 31. I have accepted his resignation. My administration will begin the process of selecting a replacement as quickly as possible. I appreciate Steve’s service as Chief. City of Muncie is blessed with a great group of men and women who serve our Community as police officers. They will continue to serve and protect with pride and professionalism.”
