Bolt for the Heart run to benefit AEDs for ISP patrol cars

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The 5th Annual Bolt for the Heart run is slated to kickoff this Thanksgiving in Carmel.

Proceeds from the run will go toward purchasing automated external defibrillators for Indiana State Police patrol vehicles.

The virtual race can be completed anywhere at anytime.

Racing began on November 1 and runs until the end of December. The entry fee is $20.

AEDs are predominately used on patients who suffer sudden cardiac arrest. Among the successes of AED use in the state of Indiana is Danny Rhoad, a 13-year-old Westfield boy whose life was saved by an AED that was stationed at Grand Park in May.
