CEO discusses future of Indianapolis Motor Speedway

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The future of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway was the focus of a discussion at the Indiana Landmarks Center Wednesday night.

IMS CEO Mark Miles told members of the Indiana Automotive Group that the track’s tradition is just as important as its future. He noted that IMS is always looking to reinvent itself without losing any of its history.

Miles told the group he hopes IMS becomes a “bucket list” destination when it comes to sports venues.

“We’ve got a really long list of things that we want to do,” Miles said. “(IMS) still needs a lot of updating, but I think there are a lot of ideas and sooner or later we’ll put the resources together to fund (them) which will add to the fan experience and create more choices for fans.”

Miles said they would like to have another iconic racing event in addition to the Indianapolis 500, but noted that he doesn’t think they are close to hosting one yet.
