Hamilton Co. teen finds metal in Halloween candy

HAMILTON COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) – A teenager in Hamilton County received candy with a piece of metal in it while trick-or-treating.

According to the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, the 13-year-old female discovered the piece of metal as she bit into a mini 3 Musketeers candy bar.

Deputies said the upon further investigation, the metal appeared to be apart of some type of small blade.

The teen had gone trick-or-treating in the Orchard Park neighborhood in the area 106th Street and Westfield Boulevard.

The girl has been seen by medical personnel for treatment of cuts to the inside of her mouth.

Deputies said the incident appeared to isolated and that no other such reports have been made.

Neighbors were surprised and concerned as they heard the news from Sheriff’s Deputies canvassing the neighborhood Wednesday night.

“A friend of mine from work had texted me with the story she saw on Facebook and she was concerned for us about us so she sent it to me and ‘isn’t that your neighborhood?’ Yes it is, but luckily we didn’t do any trick or treating in the neighborhood here. We went to a friend’s neighborhood,” Resident Abby Young said.

“I thought I lived in a safe neighborhood, but I guess not. I mean there’s people trying to put kids in danger, that’s not right,” High School Student Alec Moore said.
