Local football star looks to the future

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — He’s a touchdown machine. Marian University senior wide receiver Krishawn Hogan, who was barely used at Warren Central High, could be the best player in the NAIA.

“I want to play football in college, that’s always in mind too,” said Hogan. “But I gotta stay focused on right now for that to happen in the future.”

And that future is now. At 6-4, 215 pounds, Hogan has the physical tools that should get NFL scouts attention, and he helped lead the Knights to a perfect start and a number one ranking this fall.

As a junior, Hogan shattered his own records for catches, yards and touchdowns with 31. This year, it has been 17 more visits to the end zone and counting. He says watching top receivers across the country motivates him.

“It’s all about competing really. I don’t think you can really teach a player to compete, so if you put me on the field with anybody else, I can compete with them and there’s really no difference.”

Knights head coach Mark Henninger knows he’s got a special player, and he takes full advantage of his skills.

“Not only is he big enough now to make the tough catches, now he’s fast enough to outrun you. We have an All-American in track at corner and he can go stride-for-stride, if not beat him, so he’s just a complete player right now.”

Hogan still has no NFL Combine invite, but he’ll be ready for a pro day for the scouts in February.

“When I was in the 2nd grade, my dad said if you want to play in the NFL, just say it every day and I could. I guess my freshman year in college, my coach told me I could be an NFL player and that’s when I really started believing.”

He has the size, skills, the attitude and the work ethic. If there’s anyone who can make it in the NFL from this level, it’s Krishawn Hogan. Remember the name.
