Student brings note from mom telling teacher she’s being held hostage

CLINTON, LA (WCMH) – Usually when a student brings a note to the teacher, it’s an absence excuse or a reminder, but one note helped free a woman that police say was being held hostage by a wanted suspect.

Sheriff Jeff Travis told WBRZ, that on Tuesday, the 11-year-old student brought a note from her mother saying she was in trouble.

“There’s always a chill that goes through you when you understand that the child was going through a very bad environment and the mother may be captive, and it may be worse than what we actually found,” said Travis.

After talking to the girl and investigating, deputies determined the suspect to be Donald Ray Guy, a suspect known to run from police.

A search warrant was executed on the girl’s home, the mother was rescued, and Guy was found hiding in the closet and arrested.

Guy has now been charged with false imprisonment.
