Victory Field hosting public meeting about new after school program helping children stay healthy

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A new after school program is meeting with the public to talk about children staying fit.

Victory Field is hosting a public meeting on Wednesday about the RightFit not-for-profit organization, and how the after school program will provide four Indianapolis schools nutrition education and physical activity.

“We are most appreciative of the endorsement we received from Dr. Ferebee and the Indianapolis Public Schools Board on Thursday night to begin the RightFit Program in January,” said Cal Burleson, Indians vice president of baseball and administrative affairs. “We have four enthusiastic principals, seven committed entities from Public Safety, and a host of other community partners supporting RightFit. We are looking forward to sharing more about the program at our public meeting.”

The organization said the program will run three days a week from January to June.

The participating schools include:

  • Daniel Webster School 46
  • Wendell Phillips School 63
  • Meredith Nicholson School 96
  • Holy Angels Catholic School

The meeting will be Wednesday afternoon at Victory Field at 3 p.m.
