Cubs fans wake early to get World Series Championship merchandise

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Several Dick’s Sporting Goods locations opened early Thursday morning to welcome Chicago Cubs fans.

The stores in Avon, Plainfield, Carmel, Noblesville, and Castleton announced Wednesday that they would open at 6 a.m. if the Cubs won the series in game 7.

Shirts, hats, cubs, flags, and other merchandise was available just a few hours after the ends of the game. About a dozen people were waiting outside the Castleton location before that early opening Thursday, many of which has little if not any sleep.

“As a die-hard Cubs fan ever since I was a little girl, I am so happy that they won. It’s amazing. I’m sure the Wrigley Field area is going totally nuts,” Geraldine Macenski said.

“I’m a lifelong cubs fan and this just means so much, man. I’ll tell you, they had a great team all year long and I’m glad it happened! Go Cubs!” Brian Adams said.

Both Macenski and Adams watched the game at Fat Dan’s on Mass Ave. with dozens of other Cubs fans.
