WESTFIELD, Ind. (WISH) – A popular trail way in Westfield held a ribbon cutting on Friday morning to officially open a new section.

Midland Trail will now extend from Gunther Boulevard east to the city limits at Gray Road. The new part of the trail cost about $600,000. Funding came from park impact fees.

“With this extension of the Midland Trail we are adding over 4,000 feet of trail that will take our residents all the way to the eastern edge of the city,” Westfield Parks and Recreation Director Melody Jones said.

Next year, Noblesville is expected to start construction on its phase of the Midland east of Gray Road.
