Residents treat IMPD to breakfast and lunch
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Amy Harwell is president of the Martindale-Brightwood Neighborhood Association.
Every Friday, she supplies donuts and coffee for IMPD East District officers. She put a twist on breakfast and added lunch on this Friday.
She served a full lunch including sandwiches, chicken and soda for the officers.
Several officers showed up, and the department held a roll call where officers received their assignments for the evening.
“I would just like to say thanks. She has been a great person and a great support for police,” said Officer Carpenter.
While the officers sat and chatted, IMPD sworn in its 12th recruit class at Indiana State Fairgrounds.
24-Hour News 8 asked Harwell what she expects from the new officers.
“I expect them to learn. Don’t go out as a magic man or magic woman, learn the community that you will be dispatched to,” said Harwell.
The officers are being invited back next Friday for breakfast to continue the dialogue.
