2 arrested after overnight armed gas station robberies, pursuit

LAWRENCE, Ind. (WISH) — Two armed men were taken into custody early Monday after police say they robbed gas stations in McCordsville and Lawrence.

Police were called to Village Pantry at Broadway Street (State Road 67) and N. County Road 600 West around 12:15 a.m.

Witnesses reported two men with at least one handgun got away with cash.

About 1 a.m., police say the pair also stole money from a BP gas station at 9200 E. 56th Street in Lawrence. As they were fleeing east on 56th Street, a nearby Lawrence police officer attempted to pull them over.

The chase continued onto Mt. Comfort Road before the suspects pulled into an industrial complex and were taken into custody following a short foot pursuit, according to Lawrence police.

Two guns were recovered from their SUV. Both men have been preliminarily charged with armed robbery.

No one was hurt.

The men have not been identified.
