Be careful what you read on social media: What you need to know about how, when you can vote

(WISH) – Be careful about what you read on social media about how and when you can vote. There are reports of false information circulating the internet.

24-Hour News 8’s partners, The Republic, reports If you want your vote to count, here’s what you need to know:

• You cannot vote by text or email
  • You cannot cast a ballot by texting or sending an email. Don’t fall for it
• Early voting ends at noon on Monday, Nov. 7, and polls open at 6 a.m. Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 8
• The polls close at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 8
• Claims that you can vote at any other time or day are false
• Voting machines are not connected to the Internet

Registered voters, you can cast your ballots from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 8. Click here to locate your polling place.What you will need:

• An Indiana driver’s license, Indiana photo ID card, United States passport, military ID and a state university issued photo ID can be accepted to vote. An out-of-state driver’s license cannot be accepted.

Review your ballot now:

• According to state law, a voter is limited to only two minutes to vote on a voting machine. Each voter should review his or her ballot ahead of time to reduce confusion and any questions. A voter can go online at indianavoters.com and click on “Who’s on your Ballot,” to review their ballot.

Lines too long? Here’s what to do:

• Voters do not have to stay at the same vote center and wait if there is a long line. They can go to any of the vote centers and vote. A map will be available at each vote center to show where other vote centers are located.
