IMPD seizes drugs, cash, and gun after obtaining search warrant

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department’s Southeast Vice, Narcotics Flex teams seized drugs, cash and a gun after obtaining a narcotics search warrant in the 3800 block of Brickenwood Terrace on Thursday.

Police said during the investigation, detectives learned 33-year-old Nathan Washington was suspected of dealing heroin. Detectives then made numerous heroin purchases from Washington. Police said the suspect was often armed with a handgun, and he was also listed as a serious violent felon.

After detectives obtained evidence of him selling illegal narcotics, a search warrant was granted for his  residence. Police said the IMPD SWAT team assisted IMPD detectives in the search warrant, due to him being paranoid of being caught, as well as him being listed as a serious felon.

After the IMPD SWAT team entered the home, Washington, his girlfriend and several other people were taken into custody.

During the search of the home, police found the following:

  • Marijuana
  • Heroin
  • Over $2,400.00 in cash
  • A gun
  • Several live rounds of different calibers and gun parts

The people taken into custody include:

  • 30-year-old Doronata Washington
  • 32-year-old Derrick Young
  • 33-year-old Nathan Washington
  • 30-year-old Lavern Johnson

Nathan Washington was arrested for dealing narcotics, possession of heroin, marijuana and paraphernalia, serious violent felon in possession of a handgun, dealing marijuana and maintaining a common nuisance.

Doronata Washington and Young were arrested on preliminary charges of visiting a common nuisance.

Johnson was arrested for possession of heroin, marijuana and paraphernalia, dealing marijuana, neglect of depending, and maintaining a common nuisance.
