Carson wins re-election, defeats Ping in 7th Congressional District race

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Democrat Andre Carson has defeated Republican Catherine Ping in the 7th Congressional District.

According to the Associated Press, Carson ended up with 59 percent of the vote.  The Republican challenger Catherine Ping ended up with 36 percent and Libertarian Drew Thompson received four percent of the vote.

On the Friday before Election Day, Ping had  a stray bullet go through her back windshield and lodged in the front of her car. Ping was driving in the area of 38th Street and Emerson Avenue at the time of the incident.

She stated that she felt her hair ‘puff’ as the bullet just missed her head.”

With the victory, Carson secures re-election.
