Bartholomew Co. traffic stop leads to drug arrest

BARTHOLOMEW COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) – A Tuesday evening traffic stop in Bartholomew County lead to a drug arrest.

According to the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Department, a vehicle driven by 30-year-old Steven Katzenberger headed southbound in the near of 7th Street and Central Avenue in Columbus was stopped by a sergeant with the department at 11:50 p.m.

A Columbus police officer then arrived to assist after a K9 officer indicated possible drugs inside the vehicle.  During a search of the vehicle, syringes loaded with a substance suspected to be heroin and a BB gun was discovered. Katzenberger was also found to be in possession of marijuana and non-prescribed Xanax.

Katzenberger was transported to the Bartholomew County Jail where he faces preliminary charges for possession of legend injection devices and possession of controlled substances.
