Cummins, Indiana Rail show off new locomotive engine

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Cummins and Indiana Rail Road executives showed off a 95-liter, 16-cylinder QSK95 rail engine on Wednesday morning to share the importance of rail transportation to the Indiana economy.

Cummins QSK95 is manufactured at Seymour Engine Plant, Seymour IN. It is the cleanest and most durable Tier 4 locomotive engine available today, Cummins said. The engines are used in marine and power generation applications.

Cummins said rail transportation is vital to the economy in Indiana with roughly one-third of the freight reaching across the country. The Indiana Rail Road Company supplies several items to central and southwest Indiana and central Illinois.

The QSK95 is capable of reaching a top speed of 125 mph.
