ISP still looking for answers in fatal I-70 shooting
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Indiana State Police are still looking for whoever killed a 30-year-old Indianapolis resident almost a year ago.
Derrick Gregory was shot and killed inside his vehicle on Interstate 70 near mile marker 88.8 around 6 p.m. Nov. 25.
Troopers said they arrived on scene to find a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck crashed on a guard rail. Gregory was found inside the vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound. He later died on Thanksgiving day.
Multiple bullet holes were discovered on the truck. Officials said the holes were through the drivers side door and windshield.
ISP said they were unable to speak to Gregory and they were relying on the public for help.
Family members spoke with 24-Hour News 8 shortly after the shooting asking for the public to come forward.
“We need to know someone had to have seen someone shooting at that truck as many bullet holes are in them. I don’t believe that no one saw anything,” said Derrick’s sister Chrissy Gregory. “I understand that people probably don’t want to get involved, but I really plead with them to get involved so that we can bury him and put some peace in our own minds and get these monsters off the streets.”
ISP said they are still hoping someone will come forward with information so they can make an arrest. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 317-262-TIPS.
