1 dead, 1 critical in Carmel crash

CARMEL, Ind. (WISH) – Police in Carmel are investigating a fatal single vehicle crash that happened on Monday morning.

Police responded to the intersection of 96th Street and Haverstick Road at 11:20 a.m.

Investigators say a black 2009 Ford Acura, driven by 68-year-old Robert Ingles, was heading eastbound when the vehicle went off the right side of the road and hit a speed limit sign. Police believe the Ingles over corrected and went off the north side of the roadway and into a wooded area.

Ingles and the passenger, 71-year-old Thomas Billingsly, were transported to St. Vincent Indianapolis Hospital. Billingsly later died of his injuries at the hospital. Police say the diver was in critical condition.
