INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A person has died after a crash on Interstate 65 on the northwest side of Indianapolis Monday morning.
It happened around 5:15 a.m. on southbound I-65 between 71st Street and I-465.
Indiana State Police said a Mitsubishi car driven by 61-year-old Kerry Dunlavey of Rossville was heading south on I-65 when it sideswiped a vehicle, went airborne and landed upside down in trees about 15 feet from the interstate.
Dunlavey was found unresponsive and trapped in the wreckage. He was later pronounced dead.
The driver of the other vehicle, 22-year-old Demetrius Jordon of Indianapolis, was not hurt. Police don’t believe Jordon was intoxicated.
Dunlavey’s body will be tested for drugs or alcohol. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
