22 arrested, 13 wanted in Johnson County drug roundup

JOHNSON COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) — A huge drug roundup in Johnson County has resulted in 35 arrest warrants issued.

Most of the charges involve meth and all of them involve drug dealing.

This was a three-month long operation involving all police departments in Johnson County, U.S. Marshals and the Johnson County Prosecutor’s Office. The first arrest took place on Nov. 1.

So far, 22 people have been arrested and 13 are wanted.

According to Johnson County Deputy Prosecutor Megan Smither, most of the methamphetamine came from Mexico. Due to recent restrictions to ephedrine sales, it’s both cheaper and more potent.

Smither hopes this roundup will serve as a warning to others in the county.

“I hope that at least temporarily the streets of Johnson County are safer. We hope that this serves as a message to any would-be meth dealers that Johnson County is going aggressively pursue drugs to people who are dealing there,” Smither said.

Prosecutors say most of these operations are possible because of informants.
