Fort Wayne mayor out of hospital after heart surgery

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP) – A spokesman for Fort Wayne Mayor Tom Henry says he has been released from the hospital one week after having heart bypass surgery.

City spokesman John Perlich said Monday that the 65-year-old Democrat is resting comfortably at home and will work from home for several days.

Deputy Mayor Karl Bandemer is overseeing day-to-day operations until Henry’s return.

Henry had the surgery Nov. 7. Family members have said the third-term mayor experienced some chest pain three days earlier and that after tests performed by a cardiologist, a blockage was found in his chest.
