Jury trial begins for teen murder suspects charged in 17-year-old’s death
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH ) – The jury trial begins Monday for the three teenagers charged in the death of another teen last year.
Kaylend Gilbert, Terrance Richardson and Jalen Heffner all face murder charges in the death of 17-year-old Steven Kendall Jr.
Police said Kendall Jr. was shot in the chest and died on Sunday, Oct. 4, 2015.
The shooting happened on East New York Street near Rural Street on the near east side of Indianapolis.
Police said they believe the four were walking down the street when Richardson pulled out a gun and shot Kendall.
The three had their first court appearance on Oct. 9, 2015.
All three are being tried in adult court. Monday’s jury trial begins at 8:45 a.m.
