Thousands donated to Planned Parenthood in Pence’s name

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Planned Parenthood of Indiana and Kentucky (PPINK) says it’s seeing a spike in donations made in the name of Vice President-elect Mike Pence.

The organization says people unhappy with the outcome of the election have been sending in thousands of dollars in Pence’s name.

So far they’ve received nearly 1,400 donations since Election Day, which has brought in more than $25,000 to the organization.

“We are pleased that this outpouring of support recognizes the good work PPINK does and we welcome the financial support to continue to serve our patients who need us the most,” Betty Cockrum, President and CEO of PPINK stated in a press release. “Hoosiers have recognized how bad Pence is for women for a really long time and now the nation is joining us in the fight against him.”

Pence has repeatedly called for cutting funding to Planned Parenthood.

Planned Parenthood says each donation automatically triggers a certificate of thanks to be sent to the donor, meaning all the letters are going to Pence’s address.

PPINK said their donations online are up by 1,700 percent.
