Central Indiana Dance Ensemble with highlights from their upcoming performance of “The Nutcracker”

It’s a holiday tradition you won’t want to miss. Tickets are on sale now for Central Indiana Dance Ensemble’s performance of Tchaikovsky’s, “The Nutcracker,” running December 9 – 11, 2016, at the Zionsville Performing Arts Center.

For three days every December, CIDE brings the holidays to life through Tchaikovsky’s magical and iconic ballet. In the opening scene, guests are transported to the Stahlbaum family Christmas celebration where they experience the magic of the holidays through the eyes of 10 year old Clara as she and her Nutcracker Prince embark on a dreamlike journey to the Land of Sweets. Audience members ages one to 100 delight as the Snow Queen, Rose Fairy, Sugar Plum Fairy and more, come to life to perform for young Clara.

Artistic Director Suzann Delay is thrilled to provide this holiday tradition for central Indiana families, “It’s incredibly gratifying to see families come back year after year to experience our Nutcracker performance. We are proud and humbled to be a part of their holiday tradition and we work to make each year’s performance unique, special and, of course, magical.”

In addition to The Nutcracker performance, holiday enchantment abounds at the Sugar Plum Fairy Dessert Party prior to each matinee. Scout groups, preschool and elementary age children enjoy treats from the Land of Sweets, have their picture taken with Clara and the Sugar Plum Fairy, complete a craft and participate in an interactive Nutcracker story time. Tickets for the Dessert Party are $10 and are available in tandem with a show ticket.

The Nutcracker performance schedule includes a Friday and Saturday 7:30 p.m. show and a Saturday and Sunday 2:00 p.m. matinee. Tickets are $25/adults and $18 for students 18 and younger.

Lilly began dancing at the age of three. For a few years she played various amounts of sports while dancing, but at the age of nine she decided to turn all of her attention to ballet because she loved it so much. She studied at Quenedit Ballet School in San Antonio, Texas until Lilly’s family moved to Westfield, Indiana in July of 2014. She enrolled in classes at Central Indiana Academy of Dance that coming August. Lilly has trained during the summer at Ballet West’s 4 week summer program in Salt Lake City, Utah and also attended the School of American Ballet’s 5-week summer course in New York City this past summer of 2016. This will be Lilly’s 3rd full year at Central Indiana Academy of Dance, and 2nd full year of being a member of CIDE. Here at CIDE, she has enjoyed being able to perform in The Nutcracker, Cinderella, Mixed Rep, Penrod, and Alice in Wonderland. Her favorite roles would have to be performing as the ‘Snow Queen’ and as ‘Arabian’ in CIDE’s production of The Nutcracker in 2015. Lilly cannot wait to perform as the ‘Sugar Plum Fairy’ in this year’s production. She will be graduating in June of 2017.
