Mixed results for 2016 ISTEP+ exams
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – The Indiana Department of Education released 2016 ISTEP+ results.
2016 marked another transition year for education in the Hoosier state.
This was the second year for new assessments for grades 3 through 8 on more rigorous college and career ready standards. A baseline was established with results from ISTEP+ testing in 2015.
2016 was also the first year for new state assessments for grade 10. Results from the 2016 tests are not comparable to other years testing results.
Statewide in 2016, 66 percent of students in grades 3 through 8 passed the English/Language Arts sections. 59 percent passed the mathematics sections and 52 percent passed both sections.
In grades 4 and 6, 65 percent of students passed the Science section and 64 percent of students in grades 5 and 7 passed the Social Studies section.
In grade 10, 59 percent of students passed the English/Language Arts section, 35 percent passed the Mathematics section, and 32 percent passed both sections.
Scores at the major public districts in Allen County had varying results.
For FWCS:
Grades 3-8: 55.5 percent passed English/Language Arts
Grades 3-8: 49.4 percent passed Mathematics
Grades 3-8: 41.1 percent passed both (44 percent last year)
Grade 10: 48.6 percent passed English/Language Arts
Grade 10: 20.3 percent passed Mathematics
Grade 10: 19.3 percent passed both
For EACS:
Grades 3-8: 66.9 percent passed English/Language Arts
Grades 3-8: 56.9 percent passed Mathematics
Grades 3-8: 51.7 percent passed both (72 percent last year)
Grade 10: 56.1 percent passed English/Language Arts
Grade 10: 26.4 percent passed Mathematics
Grade 10: 24.8 percent passed both

Grades 3-8: 79.1 percent passed English/Language Arts
