WISH-TV wins three IBA Spectrum awards

Indianapolis, IN (WISH) – Today, WISH-TV was awarded three Spectrum Awards by the Indiana Broadcasters Association, including Best General News Story, Local Community Involvement, and Best Commercial.

Nominated for awards in all seven categories, WISH-TV took three top IBA Spectrum Awards, honoring the station’s commitment to news, community service and localism.

The General News Story category recognized 24-Hours News 8’s five-year follow-up on the investigation into missing IU student, Lauren Spierer. WISH-TV received the Local Community Involvement award for its “Gr8 Paper Push,” which has collected tons of paper, and raised nearly $450,000 for the local charity, Teachers Treasures, and the needy classrooms they serve.

The Spectrum Awards were presented during the 2016 Indiana Broadcasters Association conference being held today in Carmel, Indiana. The awards recognize broadcast excellence for outstanding achievement by Indiana radio and television stations. The competition is established to encourage the highest standards of reporting, community service and production creativity. It brings the ultimate prize of peer recognition to members of the broadcast industry of Indiana.
