Trial for triple homicide suspect ends with hung jury

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – The jury in the trial against Artavius Richards, a man charged with a triple homicide, could not agree upon a verdict. The state will decide by November 28 if they will retry him.

Richards and another man, Darrell McDaniel, are both facing three counts of murder. They are suspected of killing three men, execution-style in a Lewis Street home in February. Richards and McDaniel were arrested in September and held in Allen County Jail without bond.

Opening statements in the trial against Richards started on Tuesday. The trial continued Wednesday, into Thursday evening.

McDaniel’s trial isn’t until March. Richards’ trial began Monday with jury selection because he asked for a speedy trial.
