Morgantown woman airlifted after 18-foot fall from tree stand

MORGAN COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) — A Morgantown woman is recovering after an 18-foot fall from a tree hunting stand Thursday afternoon.

Emergency crews were called to the 5900 block of Old State Road 135 around 1 p.m.

Conservation officers say 25-year-old Tamra Hayden was attaching a hunting stand to a tree when the stand shifted, causing her to fall 18 feet to the ground.

She was airlifted to IU Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis in stable condition with injuries to her legs and back.

She was not wearing a safety harness at the time, according to Indiana DNR.
