Local shops prepare for Small Business Saturday

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – With Black Friday winding down, stores across central Indiana are hoping you’ll shop small on Saturday.

One worker at Silver in the City on Mass. Ave. described Small Business Saturday as “the Super Bowl” for small businesses.

Stores are preparing for the crowds by beefing up staff and making plenty of coffee.

Silver in the City will offer gift cards and other freebies to their first 10 customers. The store opens at 9 a.m., and then it’s 10 percent off everything all day.

Indy Reads Books also opens at 9 a.m. New books are 20 percent off and, if you buy two used books, you get one free.

The Mass. Ave. Merchants Association says you’ll even find food trucks on the avenue.

“It’s been quite busy Friday, but tomorrow’s going to be our big, crazy, holiday, super fun day,” Sarah Kate of Silver in the City said.

“It helps keep the money local and helps us hire more people here in the community,” Victoria Brown of Indy Reads Books said.

You’ll find deals all over Mass. Ave. and at small shops across central Indiana.

More than 30 businesses on or near Mass. Ave. are getting involved. Some of them are expecting people to line up outside before they open.
