Searching for a cure for cancer

During the holiday season, many of us take time to give thanks for our many blessings. This is especially important when you realize that each year the American Cancer Society reports that more than 10,000 children are diagnosed with cancer. That means 10,000 families, friends and their relatives are hoping for a special holiday gift – a cure for childhood cancers. But while childhood cancer survivor rates continue to increase, the fact remains that of all government funding that goes to the treatment and research of cancer, less than 5% goes to children’s cancer, leaving much more to be done.

Dr. Douglas Graham, Director, Aflac Cancer Center and Catherine Blades, Senior Vice President of Corporate Communications, Aflac, share more about the need to increase funding; new advances being made in the fight against childhood cancer; and why it is so important that the Washington Post and Aflac have taken the lead in this need for a national discussion.
