COLUMBUS, Ind. (WISH) – A man was arrested Wednesday afternoon for threatening to damage a man’s eye with a screwdriver.

Columbus police officers were sent to the 200 block of Smith Street after reports of a fight in progress.

When officers arrived, they spoke with the caller who said he stopped to visit a friend at his home when he was confronted by Dirk Neal, 36 of Columbus. The caller said that he is blind in one eye and Neal threatened to attack his other eye with a screwdriver so he would be completely blind.

The caller said Neal swung the screwdriver toward his head but missed. He said a short time later, he knocked Neal to the ground by swinging a bike lock at him.

After officers found Neal, he was arrested and transported to the Bartholomew County Jail.

The preliminary charges that Neal is facing includes battery and intimidation with a deadly weapon.
